Recent Assembly session the shortest in T.N. history: PMK founder Ramadoss
This year, the Assembly session has been held only for 18 days and debates have been held only for 14 days and Department related debates have been held only for eight days
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduPMK founder S. Ramadoss on Thursday (December 12, 2024) flagged the issue of shorter duration of sessions held in Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
In a statement, he pointed out that the recent monsoon session of the Assembly concluded in two days, which has never been the case before.
Except for passing special resolutions for which the Assembly session is held for one day, this is the first time in the history of the 72-year Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, a session is being held for only two days, Mr. Ramadoss said.
This year, the Assembly session has been held only for 18 days and debates have been held only for 14 days and Department related debates have been held only for eight days, he pointed out.
If debates are held only for 14 days, how the legislators can raise issues relating to their constituencies, Mr. Ramadoss asked.
The DMK government does not care about this. They are holding assembly sessions for fewer days, due to the fear of getting exposed, he alleged.
DMK has not fulfilled its poll promise of live telecasting the assembly proceedings, Mr. Ramadoss said.
The Question and Answer session is live. If someone speaks against the government the live telecast is being cut off, he added.
People of the State are watching and will give an appropriate punishment at the appropriate time, he added.
