Minor girl tries to end life in Salem

A minor girl tried to end her life after an acquaintance threatened her with her photo on Friday.

A 17-year-old girl, a plus-two student residing in Mallur locality, befriended a driver, Prakash (27), of the same village a year ago, and took pictures together. In the meantime, she stopped talking to him. But the driver allegedly threatened her by showing their pictures together. Fearful of the consequences, she tried to end her life and was admitted to Salem Government Hospital. The Kondalampatti All Women’s police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and are on the lookout for the accused.
