In a breach of prison security, a mobile phone was discovered concealed beneath the slab of a bathroom in the Kannur Central Jail in Kerala. The phone was uncovered during maintenance work in the bathroom of the 11th cell in the 10th Block of D Barrack.

Following the incident, the jail superintendent lodged a formal complaint, prompting the Kannur Town police to register a case.
