Drug trafficking: man externed from Kozhikode under KAAPA nabbed

A 23-year-old man from Cheruvannur, who was externed from Kozhikode city eight months ago under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA), was nabbed along with his friend on the charges of smuggling 34.41 grams of MDMA.

Sulthan Noor and his neighbourhood friend Mohammed Ajmal, 22, were detained on Friday night following a tip-off received by the Special Branch officers. The costly synthetic drug was recovered after a surprise inspection by the Nallalam police at the prime suspect’s house in Cheruvannur.

According to the police, Sulthan Noor’s brother, Khaleefa Noor, was also booked for attempting to attack the checking squad with stones and disrupt the search. Two officers sustained minor injuries in the incident, they said.
