Bharathiar University starts implementing File Tracking and Management System for transparency in administration

Bharathiar University has put in place File Tracking and Management System to enable faculty members to track progress and status of their files.

Welcoming the initiative, Bharathiar University Teachers Association (BHUTA) president K. Vasanth thanked the Convenor/Principal Secretary, members of the VC Committee, Registrar and the administrative section for implementing the file-tracking system, and resolving long-pending issues such as quarters allotment, fresh appointment of hostel wardens after nearly a decade, and implementing the policy of factoring in seniority for making In-Charge appointments to key posts such as Dean of College Development Council and Coordinator of Community College Consultancy Centre, thereby ensuring one person holds one post.

Earlier this month, BHUTA made a representation to the University Registrar requesting implementation of the system, as also seeking enforcement of Service Rules for non-teaching staff.

The two critical issues, if addressed, would greatly enhance transparency and efficiency of the university’s administrative operations, BHUTA secretary N. Umadevi said.

The File Tracking and Management System has now obviated the need for the faculty members to frequently approach the relevant sections for updates. Alongside streamlining the administrative processes, the system also helps staff members complete tasks in a timely manner.

As for the formulation and enforcement of service rules regarding promotions and transfers for non-teaching staff, the BHUTA president strongly advocated periodic transfer of employees who had served in the same section for over three years.

Several employees had been performing the same roles right from appointment to retirement, limiting opportunities for other staff members to gain experience in the tasks, Prof. Vasanth said, urging the university administration to take prompt action on this issue as well.
