415 criminals held in 15 days, says Delhi Police

Delhi Police on Monday said that it has arrested 415 wanted criminals, including 81 proclaimed offenders, under ‘Operation Crackdown’ in the North West district between December 1 and 15. As part of the drive, the police have also identified and deactivated the social media accounts of 67 juveniles, which were found to be “glorifying” crime, an officer said.

A total of 1,500 personnel were involved in the drive, DCP (North West) Abhishekh Dhania said, adding that 21 of those arrested were linked to organised crime, including bootlegging, gambling, and narcotics. He added that 18 juveniles accused of heinous crimes were also apprehended.

The officer said that they have investigated 44 cases of cyberfraud and arrested 31 people.

Mr. Dhania added that a special drive against smuggling and illegal liquor distribution led to the seizure of 8,545 litres of illicit liquor and the arrest of 127 individuals. The police took action in 107 gambling cases and arrested 127 people for the same.
