Anbumani Ramadoss accuses CM Stalin of double standards on mining project, NLC expansion issue
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduPMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday (December 12, 2024) accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin of “double standards” over the issue of tungsten mining project in Madurai district and NLC expansion project.
Mr. Stalin has stated in the Assembly that “as long as I am Chief Minister of the State the mining project will not be allowed, “ he pointed out.
“Respecting the sentiments of the people the Chief Minister has taken a correct stand. However, he has not expressed the same feeling towards NLC expansion which is affecting people around Cuddalore district, which is a betrayal to them,” Mr. Anbumani said in a statement.
“The Chief Minister has said he will quit, if the mining project in Madurai is implemented despite his opposition. But why has he not taken a similar stand in the NLC issue and is backing the firm?,” he asked.
The Chief Minister should take a balanced stand on all issues. Both the mining project and NLC expansion should be made to exit the State. The State government should take measures to return the land acquired by NLC to the farmers, Mr. Anbumani said.
