Kongara Nagamani, working in Hayathnagar police station of Rachakonda, was done to death by her brother for marrying outside their community
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduThe Ibrahimpatnam police on Tuesday arrested a man who killed his police constable sister allegedly for marrying outside their community.
Kongara Paramesh, 25, a resident of Raipole village of Ibrahimpatnam, was arrested at Janaharsha Venture in Polkampally village, a day after he killed Kongara Nagamani, who worked as a police constable in Hayathnagar police station of Rachakonda. The police seized a knife, an SUV and a mobile phone.
According to the police, Nagamani moved to her paternal uncle’s residence in Raipole about 10 years ago after her parents passed away. In 2014, the family got her married to a villager and gifted her one acre of land. However, due to marital issues, she returned to her uncle’s house.
During her stay in Raipole, the woman befriended a man, who belonged to another caste. On November 10, 2024, she married him against the wishes of her brother and his family and started living with him in a rented house in Vanasthalipuram. She returned her one-acre land, which was given to her at the time of her first marriage, to avoid any confrontation and interference.
Angry about her marriage, Paramesh decided to kill his sister and found an opportunity when she came to the village on Sunday.
“With the help of his friend Achana Shiva, Paramesh kept a tab on her movements. On Monday morning around 8.30 a.m., while Nagamani left for duty, he followed her. At a secluded spot, Paramesh hit her scooter with his car and when she fell on the road, he slit her throat leading to her death,” the police said.
