Debate on Constitution to kick off in Lok Sabha on December 13

PM Modi is scheduled to reply to the debate on Saturday. Senior NDA leaders would speak during the two-day debate, which was sought by the Opposition to mark 75 years of adopting the Constitution.

The Lok Sabha will on Friday (December 13, 2024) begin a two-day debate on the Constitution to mark 75 years of its adoption.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to reply to the debate on Saturday (December 14, 2024).

Congress leader and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is likely to make her maiden speech in the Lok Sabha during the debate.

Parliament Winter Session Day 15 updates

Sources said Ms. Vadra will be the first speaker from the Opposition benches on Friday (December 13, 2024). Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will be one of the key speakers but it is not clear when he would make his intervention.

The parliamentary strategy group and the floor managers of the Congress met on Thursday (December 12, 2024) evening to discuss the speakers and the points to be raised.

Defence Minister and Deputy Leader of the Lok Sabha Rajnath Singh is likely to initiate the debate.

Senior leaders of the of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would speak during the two-day debate, which was sought by the Opposition to mark 75 years of adopting the Constitution.

Both the Congress and the BJP have issued three-line whips to all their members to be present in the House on Friday (December 13, 2024) and Saturday (December 13, 2024).
