Telangana Assembly| Bhatti Vikramarka takes serious view of privilege motion moved by BRS

Asserts the main Opposition had no moral right to move motion against him

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has taken a serious view of the privilege notice moved against him by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) asserting that the main Opposition has no moral right to move any motion against him.

The rules of the Assembly were framed during the BRS rule and the same were being followed now. It was the BRS which incorporated rule prohibiting carrying placards inside the House. The same party violates the rule it has made and carries placards. BRS member T. Harish Rao said the party had moved privilege motion against the Deputy Chief Minister who was also holding Finance portfolio because he was ‘misleading’ the House on State finances and the government had not fulfilled the promises it made to the people.

Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka shot back asking whether the BRS government had fulfilled the promises of three acre land each to Dalit families, two bedroom houses for eligible poor and jobs to unemployed youth. “These were assurances given on the floor of the Assembly, did the BRS fulfil them? How can they (the BRS members) move a privilege motion against me?” he asked.

The Deputy Chief Minister said he had announced the government’s decision to provide ₹12,000 to agriculture labour without land following a question raised by journalists. “Is it a ground for moving privilege motion?” he questioned.

He took strong objections to the manner in which the BRS members behaved in the Business Advisory Committee meeting on Monday and recalled how the BRS claimed in the past that it would go by the decision of the Speaker on the duration of the session.

He said the Treasury Benches had tabled the details about loans obtained since the Congress took over the reins without hiding figures and advised the BRS members against misleading the House with their false propaganda.
