by · The Hindu

Member of Legislative Council Shashil G. Namoshi has said that there have been irregularities in the examination held on November 16 and 17 to fill 97 Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) posts in Kalyana Karnataka region.

Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, Mr. Namoshi mentioned about the ruckus that occurred at Sindhanur Government College examination centre and in another incident where 12 candidates were reported arrested in Yadgir district in connection with the irregularities in the PDO examination.

He said that there was no proper security arrangements at the Sindhanur exam centre, where 840 candidates appeared for the exam in a single centre comprising 35 exam halls.

In each examination hall, 50% of candidates did not receive their question papers for the first 25-30 minutes, he said. Though the question papers they received were unsealed, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, in his reply during the Winter Session, denied any paper leak or delayed start to the exam.

Mr. Namoshi said that the candidates who appeared for the PDO exam in Kalaburagi too objected for the delay in distribution of question papers, but the officials have lodged complaints against candidates in a bid to cover up their [officials] wrongdoings.

Mr. Namoshi demanded that the State government re-conduct the examination and also immediately withdraw cases lodged against candidates who protested against delayed distribution of question papers.
