CM to inaugurate international conclave on sustainable construction
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduChief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the UL International Conclave on Sustainable Construction on December 5 at the Indian Institute of Infrastructure and Construction (IIIC), Chavara, Kollam. Organised as part of the centenary celebrations of the Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS), the event will bring together global expertise and spotlight the latest advancements in sustainable construction practices, materials, and technologies worldwide.
“The three-day conclave aims to chart a green and sustainable development approach for Kerala, considering its unique geography, climate change challenges, and future needs,” said the organisers at a press meet here on Tuesday. Arizona State University, KIIFB, CSIR, IIT Madras, IIT Palakkad, NIT Calicut, NICMAR University, Kerala Technical University, and RICS are key collaborators in the conclave.
The inaugural session, chaired by Public Works and Tourism Minister P.A. Muhammad Riyas, will be attended by Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal, Cooperation and Ports Minister V.N. Vasavan, General Education and Labour Minister V. Sivankutty, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister J. Chinchurani, Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar and Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan. IIIC Director Prof. B. Sunil Kumar will provide an overview of the conclave’s objectives. The conclave will feature four panel discussions, seven technical sessions, and parallel skill-development workshops. The closing ceremony on December 7 will be inaugurated by Electricity Minister K. Krishnankutty with Dr. Sujith Vijayan Pillai, MLA, presiding over the event.
