TDP government whiling away precious time, alleges Sharmila

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y. S. Sharmila on Thursday accused the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of “whiling away precious time, instead of focussing on the fulfilment of promises he and his allies had made at the time of the elections.”

In a post on X, the State Congress chief said even after completion of six months in power, the TDP-led alliance government in the State had failed to implement the “Super Six” promises that helped the party come to power in the State.

She said contrary to people’s expectations, the State did not witness any progress under the TDP rule so far. She said the situation was no better today, as every mandal had at least three liquor shops and 30 belt shops, and in the name of development, Mr. Naidu was feeding people with graphic designs. “He is repeating the mistakes he had committed in his earlier tenure as Chief Minister,” she said.

Ms. Sharmila said within six moths of taking over the reins of power in the State, the TDP had imposed a huge financial burden of ₹17,500 crore on people, and in the name of ‘quality’, liquor was being sold for exorbitant price.

She said when questioned on failure to implement the welfare schemes he had promised, Mr. Naidu spoke about the precarious financial position of the State. “There is no denying the fact that the YSR Congress Party government’s rule was that of loot and total anarchy. That is precisely why people of the State have taught the party a lesson in the elections and voted you to power. For how long you will hide behind the failures of the earlier government,” she asked, and said that the Naidu government should focus on implementation of the promises he made to the people.
