The Mico Layout police on Thursday booked a 28-year-old man for allegedly attacking a cat in his flat in BTM layout.

He was identified as Manish Ratnakar. The incident occurred on Tuesday night. Ratnakar and Mohammed Aftab, 25, were flatmates. Ratnakar allegedly attacked Aftab’s pet cat after it pooped in his room. He called Aftab and complained that his cat had dirtied his room and that it should be thrown out of the flat.

When Aftab returned home asking for the cat, Ratnakar claimed that he had no idea about its whereabouts. On checking, Aftab found the cat in a bucket on the terrace, with bleedings on its face. When confronted again, Ratnakar said that he had kicked the cat because he was angry with it for dirtying his room.

The cat was later treated. A video posted by Aftab went viral on social media platforms, sparking outrage. Based on Aftab’s complaint, the police booked Ratnakar under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
