Six arrested, 21 kilograms of ganja seized in Excise crackdown ahead of New Year celebrations

As Hyderabad gears up for New Year celebrations, the State Excise and Prohibition officials have initiated raids and searches targeting gangs involved in importing large quantities of drugs into the city and storing them.

In the raids conducted by the officials of the State Task Force as well as Excise Department, 21 kilogram of ganja was seized, and six offenders included inter-state peddlers, were arrested as of Tuesday (December 17).

Among the arrested are Lakan Singh, 37, Indresh Singh, 30 and Shubham Singh, 30 from Dhoolpet, Aditya Singh, 22 from Golconda, Jalendra Harijan, 32 and Suresh Harijan from Malkangiri, Odisha.

The officials said Lakan Singh and Shubham Singh are repeat offenders involved in several similar cases earlier. While the former has been booked in more than half a dozen cases including murder and robbery in Mangalhat police station, Shubham Singh is nephew of Angoori Bai, who was recently arrested and sent to jail.
