Anakapalli police told to ascertain causes for accidents at 26 blackspots in district
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduSuperintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha on Thursday directed the traffic police to inspect the 26 blackspots identified on the National Highway-16 and the State Highway in the district, ascertain the cause of accidents and come up with measures to mitigate them.
Mr. Tuhin Sinha was holding a meeting with traffic police personnel and officials from various departments concerned, including the R&B, Panchayat Raj and NHAI.
He told them to have warning boards installed, rumble strips laid and unauthorised medians removed and asked the officials to ensure that rule violators pay the traffic e-challans. He also directed them to register cases if someone is not wearing helmet or seatbelt or driving drunk.
The S.P also enquired about awareness programmes being taken up in the district as part of road safety. He said that campaigns should be intensified in educational institutions and public places.
Anakapalli Sub-Division DSP M. Sravani, Parawada DSP K.V. Satyanarayana and other officials were present.
