The villagers allege that pattas for the land cultivated by them were issued to non-tribals; pleas submitted in this regard during Revenue Sadassu remain unresolved, says CPI(M) leader
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduThe tribal residents of Ravikamatham village staged a dharna under the aegis of the Adivasi Girijan 5th Schedule Sadhana Committee and the Andhra Pradesh Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham at the Ravikamatham MPDO’s Office in Anakapalli district on Monday, demanding cancellation of pattas given to non-tribals and restoration of their pattas.
They also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Tahsildar.
CPI(M) Anakapalli district secretariat member K. Govinda Rao alleged that during the land resurvey programme held at Kovvugunta, K. Gadabapalem and Ramamdorapalem villages of Ravikamatham mandal during the tenure of the previous YSRCP government, the lands which were under the cultivation of tribal farmers were recorded as ‘government lands’ in DLR record.
Later, pattas were issued for the same lands in the names of non-tribals. The aggrieved villagers had submitted applications seeking cancellation of the pattas issued to non-tribals and restoration of their pattas in the ‘Revenue Sadassus’ held at Kovvulakunta on October 23, and Kotnibilli on October 28. They were given acknowledgement receipts by the revenue officials, but no action has been even after 50 days, Mr. Govind Rao said.
He said that preparations were being held for the second round of Revenue Sadassus in their villages. The tribal people are demanding clearance of the applications given in the first phase before going ahead with the second round of the programe, failing which they would stage protests.
The tribal people staged a protest at the PGRS meet and later handed over a memorandum to the Deputy Tahsilar.
Girijan Sangham leader Rabbba Varahalu, Gora Peddiraju, PVTG Sangham mandal president Rabba Nagaraju Dora, D. Demudamma and tribals from three villages participated in the protest.
