Document writers stage protest in U.T.

Document writers in Puducherry on Monday held a demonstration near the Registration Department on Kamaraj Salai to protest the delay in registration of properties.  

The document writers functioning at the sub-registrar offices, including at Puducherry, Oulgaret and Bahour, gathered near the Office of the District Registrar and staged a protest. The sub-registrar offices are delaying processing of documents citing lack of staff and technical problems. The sub-registrars are given additional responsibilities and hence they are not able to discharge their responsibilities at the Registration Department in an efficient manner. The administration should concentrate on improving the efficiency of sub-registrar offices as they bring huge revenue for the government, they said.
