Aged couple, son found murdered in Tiruppur; murder for gain angle under investigation

An aged couple and their son were found murdered with injuries at their house in Semalai Goundenpalayam village, near Palladam, in Tiruppur district on Friday.

The police identified the victims as Deivasigamani (78), a farmer, his wife Alamelu (75) and son Senthilkumar.

A hair-dresser, Sakarakatti, who had reportedly gone to the house early in the morning on invitation for a betrothal function in the family informed the Avinashipalayam police, sources said.

The police said Deivasigamani’s body bore stab injury while the other two were found to have been beaten up to death. The investigating team is determining if it was a case of murder for gain, and has taken the help of forensic experts. A police team led by Palladam DSP S. Suresh studied the scene of crime.

The bodies were shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruppur for post-mortem. The Avinashipalayam police have registered a case.
