Kannada literary meet: 201 teams to perform in cultural shows

A total of 201 cultural teams will perform various cultural and entertainment programmes during the three-day 87th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana to be held in Mandya from December 20.

Cultural troupes from the State and outside would stage a variety of programmes for showcasing the diversity of culture of Karnataka, MLC and Cultural Committee chairman Dinesh Guligowda said in a press release.

Out of 620 applications received, he said 201 teams have been selected to showcase their talents during the literary festival on three stages from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. More than 100 teams from Mandya district alone would participate in the programme. Programmes have been arranged at Kalamandira and B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan in Mandya for the artists belonging to the district. The Mandya police band team would present its show for the first time, he said.

Honorarium in the range of ₹20,000 to ₹40,000 would be paid to each team, he said.
