ED teams search residences of BJP functionary, his brothers at five locations in Pudukottai district

Officials of the Directorate of Enforcement carried out simultaneous checks at the house of Bharatiya Janata Party’s district treasurer Muruganandham in Pudukottai town and four other places linked to him in the district. 

The officials, who split into teams, launched their operation in the morning in Pudukottai, Kadukkakaadu and Alangudi in the district. Police said one of the teams with security provided by paramilitary personnel searched the residence of Mr. Muruganandham in Charles Nagar in the morning.  

The residences of Mr. Muruganandham’s brothers Palanivel, an AIADMK member, and Ramachandran, a rural development official, were also searched at Karukkakaadu village. Similar operation was conducted at the residence of Mr. Palanivel, a businessman in Alangudi. The exact reason for the the day-long searches was not known.
