Hema Committee report: Kerala High Court directs SIT to appoint nodal officer

by · The Hindu

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the allegations of sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry following the K. Hema committee report shall appoint a nodal officer for the survivors to raise their concerns, ordered the Kerala High Court.

A Division Bench of the court consisting of Justices A.K. Jayasankaran Nambiar and C.S. Sudha issued the order after a lawyer for some of the survivors complained that some of them, who had deposed before the panel, were receiving intimidating calls. The lawyer informed the court that the survivors did not know whom to contact for protection in such situations.

The Bench directed the SIT to nominate a nodal officer and give sufficient publicity to the officer’s name and contact details so that the persons who feel threatened/intimidated during the pendency of the investigation can contact the official.

The SIT shall file an action taken report when the court considers the case on December 11, the court directed.
