The Jammu and Kashmir police have attached a house in south Kashmir’s Kulgam where four militants were found hiding earlier this year.

A police spokesman said that the single-storied residential house, situated on 10 marlas of land, was attached under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The property, the police said, was registered in the name of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Akbar Bhat, a resident of Chenigam, Frisal.

The police termed the attachment of property as “a significant move to counter terrorism”. The property was connected to “providing shelter to the four terrorists who were neutralised” in the residential house in July, the spokesman said.

Probe milestone

The attachment was executed on Friday (December 13, 2024) in the presence of a duly constituted police team and the Executive Magistrate, “ensuring full compliance with legal protocols”.

The police spokesman said this action represents a significant milestone in the ongoing investigation into unlawful and subversive activities in the district. “It highlights the firm commitment of J&K Police to neutralise threats to national security and maintain peace and order,” the spokesman said.
