Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa, also Minister in charge of Shivamogga, has favoured bringing all district-level major government offices under one roof.

The new building will come up on the vacant site opposite McGann Hospital on B.H. Road, he told the media after a meeting with officers at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Shivamogga on Wednesday.

“We have land enough for the office complex, which would include offices of the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, and Zilla Panchayat. The place identified is close to the KSRTC bus stand. If all three important offices are located in one place, people reaching the district centre for official work need not move around the city. They will get all work done at one place,” the Minister said.

Mr. Madhu Bangarappa said he would discuss the proposal with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and request funds for the project in the next Budget. He suggested the officers ensure the building plan was modern and useful for the public.

The Minister also instructed the officers to complete the installation of the night-landing facility at Shivamogga Airport by the end of January 2025. “The airport will be useful for people if the night landing facility is operationalised. Then, the number of flights operating from the airport will go up,” he said.

Mr. Madhu Bangarappa stated that the government would take up development of Chandragutti in Soraba taluk, known for Renukamba Temple. The development of the place with necessary basic amenities would improve tourism, he added.

Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegade, SP G.K. Mithun Kumar, and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
