Huge cannabis farm found over FOUR floors of disused town centre building

A cannabis farm spread over four floors of a disused building in a town centre has been raided by police and shut down.

Officers in Bolton said six arrests have been made and weapons also seized. The farm - containing more than 400 plants - was discovered inside a building on Bradshawgate in Bolton town centre on Wednesday evening.

Police said men ran away from the scene when officers attended, but four were arrested after a chase. Images from the scene showed forensic officers assessing the plants discovered.

A number of undescribed weapons were also recovered during the incident.

Writing on Facebook, GMP Bolton said: "Officers responded to reports of an ongoing burglary at a disused business premises on Bradshawgate. Upon arrival, a group of males made off from officers. After a swift foot chase, four were detained and weapons recovered from a vehicle involved in the incident.

"A search of the premises located two further males and a substantial cannabis farm spanning four floors. 407 plants and a large quantity of equipment has been seized for destruction.

"Four males were arrested on suspicion of robbery, with two further males arrested on suspicion of production of a class B controlled drug. All remain under investigation for the offences."

No further details or description of the weapons seized has been revealed.
