Police want to speak to this man after BMW driver steals hundreds of pounds of petrol

by · Manchester Evening News

Police have released a picture of a man they want to speak to after hundreds of pounds worth of petrol was stolen from a garage near Heaton Park.

Officers said £500 worth of fuel was put into a BMW car at the Sainsbury's petrol station between August 12 and August 27. The petrol was not paid for with the suspect making off from the scene.

A different front and rear registration plate was being displayed on the grey-coloured BMW each time. Police also believe that the same suspect in these incidents could be linked to a spate of thefts of petrol 'at several locations across Greater Manchester'.

In these incidents, the fuel was worth £1,300 - bringing the total stolen potentially by the same suspect to £1,800. In an appeal issued today (September 25), officers released two pictures of a man as well as a photo of the car.

Police believe the man captured in the photos 'can help with investigations'. A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers are looking to speak to this man as we believe he can help with investigations following the theft of £500 worth of fuel at Sainsburys Petrol Station at Heaton Park between Monday 12 August and Tuesday 27 August 2024.
