Manchester Half Marathon 2024: All the road closures in place

The Manchester Half Marathon returns for another year as thousands of people race for charities and organisations close to their heart - all while attempting to achieve a personal best.

This year, more than 24,000 people are expected to take part in the 13.1 mile challenge. The event, which was launched in 2016, is held in October each year and the 2024 event will be no different.

The Half Marathon will be taking place on Sunday (October 13) and will see people venture from Old Trafford and will head through Hulme, the City Centre, Stretford, Sale, Sale Moor, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Whalley Range and end right back where it all began.

There will be a number of Cheer Zones along the route where people can root on the participants - including one in Deansgate and another in Wharfside.

Due to the nature of the event, a number of road closures will be in place along the route to ensure the safety of everyone taking part. For some roads, these closures will be in effect for a small period of time, whilst others will be in place for the majority of the day.

A travel warning has also been issued for Sunday as thousands are expected to visit Manchester for not only the half marathon, but for the Super League final between Wigan Warriors and Hull KR, which will also be happening on the same day at Old Trafford.

Sunday road closures

Closed from 6.30am to 5pm:

M60 Junction 7 Clockwise and Anti Clockwise slip roads - closed between A56 Chester Road and M60

Closed from 6.30am to 3pm:

Bridgewater Way / Chester Road - between Deansgate Interchange and White City Circle

Closed from 7.30am to 4pm:

Upper Chorlton Road - closed between Seymour Grove and Eggerton Road North
