M61 traffic 'moving at just 10mph' amid severe delays following crash

Drivers are facing 'severe delays' on the M61 after a crash with traffic moving at an average speed of just 10mph.

A lane is closed on the northbound stretch of the motorway from J6 A6027 De Havilland Way (Horwich) to J8 A674 Millennium Way (Chorley), LancsLive reports. And according to AA Traffic News, the crash the 'severe delays' are only increasing.

The live traffic news service says motorists on the M61 Northbound are experiencing "severe delays of twelve minutes". It states that the average speed on the road is 10mph.

One motorist has posted on social media, writing: "Avoid M61 northbound after Horwich. Motorway closed due to bad accident".

According to AA Traffic News, the incident was first reported at 6.12am. The wesbite says: "Severe delays of twelve minutes and delays increasing on M61 Northbound between J6 A6027 De Havilland Way (Horwich) and J8 A674 Millennium Way (Chorley).

"Average speed ten mph."
