Jewellery stolen in 'distressing' Alderley Edge house raid by burglars with ladder

by · Manchester Evening News

A burglary gang used a ladder to smash into a house in leafy Alderley Edge and steal a haul of jewellery, police in Cheshire have said as they launched an appeal.

Detectives investigating the break-in called the burglary 'very distressing' and said the victim has been 'left considerably shaken by this ordeal'.

Police in Alderley Edge responded to reports of a burglary on Marlborough Avenue earlier this month. It's believed a number of offenders were involved.

They used a neighbour's ladder to reach an exterior window, smashing it to climb inside.

Now detectives are appealing for anyone with information or CCTV images to come forward. It happened at around 7.20pm on Friday November 15, but details have only just been released by Cheshire Police.

A spokesperson said: "The caller reported that an unknown number of individuals had forcibly gained access to the property, using a neighbour's ladder to reach an exterior window, smashing it, and climbing inside.

"Once inside the address, the individuals conducted an untidy search of the property and stole a number of jewellery items before fleeing the scene. As part of enquiries into the incident, officers are appealing for anyone with any information, has any CCTV footage, or saw anything that did not look right to contact them.

Detective Constable Harry Bayley said: "To have one's home broken into and have their personal property stolen is very distressing and the victim has been left considerably shaken by this ordeal. We are asking anyone who was in the Marlborough Avenue area of Alderley Edge around the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious to get in contact.

"The same goes for anyone who has any useful information, CCTV or dashcam footage." No further details have been released.
