The family of a schoolgirl who was left with life-changing injuries following an acid attack have shared pictures of her wounds on a Gofundme set up to help her.

Teagan McFarlane, 14, was left with horrendous injuries following the acid attack outside Westminster Academy in London on Monday, and will be going into theatre later today. In an update shared on GoFundMe, her family thanked people who donated and shared their kindness with them "during this difficult time."

"These contributions will allow us to cover the crucial expenses of relocating our home away from this area, which has become necessary due to our circumstances, as well as help with travel costs and other important needs along the way.

"This situation has also deeply affected my daughter mentally. She has already expressed that she does not want to return to school, so the support we’ve received will allow her to continue her education outside of mainstream schooling.

"The funds will enable her to apply for private tuition, which is especially important as she prepares for her upcoming GCSEs during this critical year of her studies. We are immensely grateful for your continued support. Please know that your kindness has brought us closer to a new chapter of healing and recovery, and we will forever be thankful for all that you have done."

The family later added: "This morning Teagan will be going into theatre. Please wish her luck, she send all her love to everyone."

As of this morning, the GoFundMe campaign had reached its £,9000 target. Since being created, more than 330 individual donations have been made.

The family has been left in shock by the attack and that police have provided updates about their investigation. Teagan's grandmother Bridget McFarlane told MailOnline that she is confident authorities "know who it is" that carried out the attack.

No arrests have been made at this time. Two police officers fell unwell following the attack.

DCI Dean Purvis said: “I would like to acknowledge the incredible bravery of all the emergency services who responded, including our London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade colleagues."

The suspect took off at speed from Alfred Road, near Paddington Station at about 4:40pm on Monday afternoon toward Harrow Road. Teagan's injuries are potentially life-changing, according to the Met Police.

“Two officers were taken to hospital as a precaution after they reported feeling unwell. I am happy to update that they are both well and have left hospital, and we will continue to look after their welfare", a spokesman said.

The Mirror has contacted the Met Police for comment.
