Teen charged after Bury stabbing left man in hospital

A teenager has been charged after an alleged stabbing that saw a 20-year-old rushed to hospital with 'serious' injuries.

Emergency services raced to St John's Court in Radcliffe at around 3:45pm on Thursday (October 24), Greater Manchester Police said. A number of police scenes were in place after a 20 year-old man was found injured.

Daudi Bakari, 18, has now been charged with Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) with intent and and possession of offensive weapon in a public place, police have confirmed.

In an update issued on Saturday (October 26), police detailed the charge and said the injuries sustained by the victim are 'not believed to be life threatening'. They added it is understood there is no wider risk to the public.

Bakari has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Monday (October 28).

In a statement, the force said: "Today (Saturday 26 October 2024), local Bury detectives have secured a charge from an incident earlier this week where an arrest was initially made.

"Daudi Bakari (15/08/2006) from Grange Grove, Whitefield has been charged with Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) with intent and and possession of offensive weapon in a public place. He has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Monday 28 October 2024.

"This charge is in relation to an incident from the St John’s Court area of Radcliffe on Thursday 25 October 2024. Thankfully, injuries sustained by the victim are not believed to be life-threatening and is believed to be targeted, with no wider threat to the public."
