The moment police recovered the stash of cannabis in the boot of a car driven into Cheshire Police HQ

Drug dealer drove into police HQ with a boot full of weed

An 'arrogant or stupid' drug dealer drove into a police HQ with a boot load of cannabis. Dilshad Ahmed arrived at Cheshire Constabulary's building with a stash hidden in his car.

He and a friend were there to pick up his pal's belongings following a previous incident. But as they pulled up at the security entrance to the car park of the complex, in Winsford, staff smelt a strong odour.

An officer was called to speak to Ahmed. The car was searched and eight one-ounce bags of cannabis were found in the boot, along with another one-ounce bag under the driver's seat.

Ahmed appeared at Chester Crown Court, where he was sentenced to 15 months in prison, suspended for two years. The 39-year-old, of St Pauls Road, Smethwick, previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

The court was told that at 3.45pm on June 27, Ahmed and his friend visited Cheshire Police HQ. It was estimated the drugs had a potential street value of between £1,440 and £2,250. Ahmed was arrested and later charged.

Police Constable Matt Uren, of Northwich Proactive Policing Team, said: “To drive to a police headquarters with a boot full of illegal drugs and think that you’d be able to get away with it is either arrogant or stupid.

“Ahmed was well aware that the drugs were in his car, but he thought that it was worth the risk to drive all the way to Winsford from Smethwick in order to retrieve his friend’s property from a previous arrest. Fortunately, the security staff at HQ sniffed him out and reported him to officers who were quickly able to reprimand him for his actions.”
