Police issue arrest update after murder investigation launched in Rochdale

A suspect who was arrested as part of a murder investigation in Rochdale following the death of a man has been released on bail, police have confirmed.

Emergency crews descended on the Edington block of flats on Lower Falinge at around 10.50pm on Monday night (October 21). Police initially responded to reports of a 'disturbance at an address'.

A man, aged in his 50s, was found unresponsive, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police. Sadly, he died on the scene.

A woman, aged in her 40s, was previously arrested on suspicion of murder. She was then bailed pending further investigations.

Yesterday (October 24), GMP said a further arrest had been made - with a man in his 50s arrested on suspicion of murder. In an update issued today, a spokesperson for the force said he has also since been released on bail.

The investigation into the man's death is ongoing, with police previously referring the incident as a 'targeted attack'. Yesterday, Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Andy Naismith said: "Investigations are continuing into the sad death of this man in his 50s, we have been in constant contact with his family and kept them up to speed on developments.

"We are still urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to get in touch with us by calling 101 and quoting log 3748 of 21/10/2024. You can also report information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111."
