Police have cordoned off a Tameside road this afternoon following a reported 'road rage' horror incident left two men injured.

Officers raced to Stockport Road in Tameside at around 12.50pm on Saturday (October 12) following reports of an assault. They said two men were treated at the scene for injuries that are not thought to be life changing or threatening.

Video footage of the incident appears to show four men in an altercation surrounding two vehicles. Two appear to be brandishing makeshift weapons before one enters the van.

Another individual can then be seen appearing to rain blows through the window of the white van.

Police have said enquiries are ongoing as they work to identify those involved and establish the full circumstances of the incident.

In a statement the force said: "We are responding to a reported assault of two men on Stockport Road at 12.50pm today (Saturday 12 October 2024).

"The two men suffered minor injuries which are not thought to be life changing or threatening at this time, and were treated at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identities of those involved and the full circumstances.

"A road closure is in place at the junction of Hyde Road as well as junctions of Ashworth Lane and Underwood Road. Officers remain in the area for reassurance and to progress the investigation.
