Driver seriously injured after row breaks out between him and another motorist

A driver was attacked by two men in a car behind him after a row broke out.

The victim - a 48-year-old man - was driving his car down Viscount Street, just behind Wilmslow Road, when a 'verbal altercation' broke out between him and two men in a car behind, police said. The victim pulled over and tried to let the other car past.

But the car drove further up the street, before the two men reportedly got out and launched an attack on the victim. He was left needing treatment for his injuries, Greater Manchester Police said.

The two men - who were believed to be aged between around 25 and 30 - then fled the scene. Officers today (October 25) issued an appeal for any witnesses of the attack, which happened at around 8.45pm on October 12, to come forward.

Police also want to speak to anyone who has any CCTV or dash cam footage from the area at the time. In a post on the GMP City Centre Facebook page, police wrote: "#APPEAL | Detectives appeal for information after a serious assault on Viscount Street in Manchester on Saturday 12 October at around 8.45pm.

"The victim sustained serious injuries and through enquiries, it is believed that the victim was driving down Viscount Street and there was a verbal altercation between the victim and approximately two other men believed to be aged between 25 and 30 years old who were in a vehicle behind.

"The victim pulled over his car in the street to let the other vehicle pass, the vehicle with two men drove further up the street before it is reported that they both get out, walk to the victim's car and physically assault the victim. The victim, a 48-year-old man, was physically assaulted and has suffered injuries which required medical attention.

"The suspects then fled the scene shortly after and officers would like to speak with anyone who might have been in the area at the time or have any dashcam or CCTV footage that may assist the investigation."
