Body found after desperate search for missing 17-year-old in Wales

A body has been found after a desperate search for a missing 17-year-old in Wales.

The teenager had been missing since Friday, September 20, Wales Online reports. It was reported to police that someone had entered the water near the Menai Suspension Bridge, between Gwynedd and Ynys Mon, just before 9.45am that day.

Extensive searches were launched involving the RNLI, police, fire crews and rescue teams. In a statement, North Wales Police said a body had now sadly been found.

The statement said: "A body has sadly been discovered in the area of the Menai Strait following extensive searches for a missing 17-year-old."

Superintendent Simon Barrasford said: "My thoughts are with the family and our officers continue to provide support to them at this incredibly difficult time. I would like to thank the community for their support during the searches."

The RNLI, North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the Coastguard, and the Aeronautical Rescue Co-Ordination Centre were all involved in the search.

North Wales Live also said it had been reported on social media that family and friends had also been helping in the search along the shore for the missing person, believed to be a local, teenage boy, but who has not been publicly identified by the police.
