Police later confirmed the victim was knifed on Malton Close, a small pathway between to neighbouring streets. He remains in a serious but stable condition.
One Sawley Avenue homeowner, who has lived in the area for 13 years, recalled the moment the victim was seen near her home bleeding in the street. She claimed a district nurse who had been at the bungalows for assisted living, ran to his aid.
"It was about 4.30pm, we were putting the decorations up and skipping around. I glanced out the window and the next minute a man was on his back, half covered in blood on the floor," she said.
"A district nurse had helped him and phoned an ambulance. Next thing, the ambulances and police turned up.
"We had a stabbing earlier this year. It's the third incident here just this year. I've been here 13 years and it used to be so lovely and quiet. I blame the ginnel as stuff always happens down there."

Another homeowner, who lives with her two children in her home of 15 years, said the latest incident has made her 'scared' to leave the house.
She said: "It never used to be like this. It was nice and quiet with lots of elderly people, but now there's drugs and crime everywhere.
"It's so scary. It makes me scared and my children scared to leave. I came back from the shops before five and there were police and ambulances here."
Police said officers are 'working hard to investigate all lines of enquiry.' Detective Sergeant Rebecca Dickinson of GMP’s Bury district, said: “I want to reassure the community that we are continuing to work closely with our partner agencies to ensure we keep Bury, and the wider Greater Manchester community, safe.
“We have a team of detectives working hard to establish the full circumstances of this incident. If anyone has any information at all please do not hesitate to contact police."
