Road shut by police as man rescued from 'under vehicle' after serious crash

A man has been rescued from "under a vehicle" following a serious crash in Trafford.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in Shay Lane, Hale Barns, at about 5.30pm today (Monday). It is understood that the man then became trapped underneath the vehicle.

Firefighters attended and managed to free the man. The extent of his injuries are not yet known.

Pictures from the scene show at least three police cars parked up on Shay Lane, near to Ringway Golf Club, this evening. The road has been closed in both directions, between Hale Road and Winchester Road, following the incident.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed they had attended reports of a serious crash between "a vehicle and a pedestrian". The force has been contacted for further information.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 5.30pm this evening (Monday 18 November), three fire engines from Altrincham, Wythenshawe and Cheadle were called to a crash on Shay Lane, Altrincham.

“Crews quickly arrived at the scene and liaised with North West Ambulance Service to release a man from under the vehicle. Firefighters worked with Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe, and departed after roughly one hour.”
