Boy, 5, killed when radiator fell on his head as he played at home

A beloved five-year-old boy was killed when a radiator fell on him as he played as Spiderman at home. Saleh Aslam was struck on the head by the radiator that came away from the wall after he climbed on it, leading to fatal injuries.

His grief-stricken parents are left with "no words" to describe their suffering. The boy's funeral, which took place over the weekend, saw an outpouring of community support, with hundreds in attendance, including his teachers and classmates.

Known for his love of dressing up as superheroes like Spider-Man and Iron Man, Saleh's parents, Mohammad Aslam and Bibi Khadija, have now urged other parents to teach their children about the potential dangers of emulating these characters, reports the Mirror.

Mohammad Aslam shared with the BBC the heart-wrenching details of the accident: "We have no words to explain the pain. She (Bibi) literally went upstairs for two minutes.

"As he tried to climb, it [the radiator] came off the hook – the entire radiator, which was around 40kg. It knocked his head and that unfortunate event caused him to bleed from his brain."

Speaking to the Observer, he said: "He was the most beloved son to me. I have four children but he was the most beloved one, the most naughty one, the most attractive one.

"He won our hearts by his little actions, by being very caring, very kind, very humble, a very proud kid. He was very proud to be a Muslim, very proud to be British, very proud of belonging to Watford.

"I'm so overwhelmed he united every single person in this community, and everybody mourned and grieved with us, they were all there in the mosque, through his funeral, hugging us, kissing us, loving us. This is the worst thing to happen to any parent – that a child of such a young age be taken away so quickly and in a very tragic manner."
