Officers remained stationed at each end of the cordon amid investigations late into Thursday evening, as forensics officers in white suits were spotted with torches scouring the scene, with evidence markers also placed in the road.

One resident claimed there had been repeated issues with crime and drug dealing in the area, as she said: "There are always drug dealings going on at the side of my house. It's awful."

Another person, who lives on Duke Street, said: "Seeing the police is no surprise. I’m not shocked. There’s always something going on round here - it’s getting worse."
