Adorable dog 'needs someone to take a chance on him' after being returned to kennels

Mixed breed Bobbie has spent much of his life in kennels but despite everything he has been through, he still has a lot of love to give to the right owner

He has spent his entire life in and out of kennels - and desperately needs an owner to give him the chance he deserves.

Bobbie, who is around eight-years-old, is up for adoption with Oakwood Dog Rescue, in Hull, for the second time after being returned by his owners.

The poor pooch originally arrived at the rescue centre in January 2021 after being rescued from a Romania kill shelter. In March 2021, he managed to secure a home but sadly he was returned due to "compatibility issues".

The dog's adoption bio reads: "When I first arrived I was very scared due to how mistreated I was in Romania. It took me a while to begin to trust people again but I managed to find a home in March 2021. In the home I was very loved and the last 14 months I was there I made lots of progress in so many ways. Sadly, I have now come back to Oakwood due to compatibility issues with my family.

"I am an incredibly loyal boy and tend to bond strongly with one person. For this reason, I would prefer a one-person household that I can give all my love and attention to" However, Oakwood says they would consider a two-person household but pre-warned any potential owners that it may take Bobbie a bit longer to warm up to them due to this.

"Unfortunately I can really struggle with new people and introductions need to be very slow so that I feel safe - but I promise that I will be the bravest boy and do my absolute best as I really do want nothing more than to meet my forever family.

Once I trust you, I guarantee that you will have a best friend for life. My ideal home would have minimal visitors. The mixed breed has been described as a "lazy boy who enjoys snoozing in my comfy beds". He enjoys enrichment activities such as snuffle and lick mats.

His bio continues: "I am super clever really. I also really enjoy obedience and trick training and it seems to entertain the humans when I show off all the cool tricks I know. I also love a blast on our big field, especially with my girlfriend Alex. The staff here at Oakwood have been helping me get used to lead walking.

"I will now walk around the centre on a lead just fine, and I'll walk out the back to our further away fields but I struggle out in the front car park as all of the people and cars scare me and I just want to get back to the safety of the rescue as soon as possible.

"My adopter will need to understand that I may never be a dog that enjoys going on walks but I will enjoy sunbathing in the garden and lots of cuddles and quality time with you." Bobbie cannot live with children under 16 years old, other dogs or cats.

A Facebook post about Bobbie in 2021 reads: "Bobbie is currently our longest stayer, we have posted about him over 25 times - videos, pictures, progress updates and he's even been in the newspaper! But he's still here waiting despite our best efforts to find him a home." There is such a lovely dog hiding beneath all that fear but we just can't seem to find somebody that is willing to take a chance on him."

Commenting on the post, one user said: "Poor baby, I would in a heartbeat but I have cats and children. Unfortunately there is always alot of restrictions on adoption for dogs." Another user added: "He's a lovely looking dog. Why won't anyone give him a home? I would take him in a heartbeat but I have four dogs. My three girls would welcome him but not sure about my boy."
