Sara Sharif's killer step-mum becomes pals with baby murderer Lucy Letby in sick prison friendship
Sara Sharif’s evil stepmother reportedly plays cards with former nurse and baby murderer Lucy Letby, after Beinash Batool was placed on remand at the same secure wing where she's being held
by Saskia Rowlands · The MirrorSara Sharif’s evil stepmother has struck up a prison friendship with fellow child killer Lucy Letby.
A source told how Beinash Batool, 30, spends hours chatting and playing cards with the 34-year-old nurse. They became pals after Batool was placed on remand at the same secure wing where serial baby murderer Letby is being held for her own protection.
The insider said: “Beinash and Lucy live on the same wing with all the other lifers. They hang out on the landing together most days, playing cards and chatting.
“The child killers always stick together because they want to protect themselves, so it doesn’t surprise me in the least that they get along so well.” Batool and her husband Urfan Sharif were found guilty of murdering his daughter Sara, 10, on Wednesday in one of the most shocking child killing cases in recent years.
Despite her sickening crimes, Batool enjoys what is described as a cushy life at HMP Bronzefield, Surrey.
As well as Letby, she is tight with convicted murderer Michelle Smith, who poisoned six-month-old daughter Amy with adult painkillers in Swansea in 2007.
And Sharon Carr – who became Britain’s youngest female murderer aged 12 when she knifed 18-year-old Katie Rackliff 30 times in a random attack in Camberley, Surrey, in 1992 – is a pal. Our source at the Category A jail near Ashford added: “Beinash is also friends with Michelle and Sharon. They all live in house block four which is a really nice wing.
“They have privileges like their own room with an en suite shower, bigger beds and access to a private courtyard. It’s like you’re wrapped in cotton wool so there’s no risk of being attacked or anything like that.”
Batool and her 42-year-old taxi driver husband will be sentenced on Tuesday for Sara’s murder, following a 10-week trial at the Old Bailey. The court heard how they subjected Sara to “unspeakable violence” including burning her bottom with an iron.
She had 100 internal and external injuries, including a brain injury, broken bones and human bite marks. Her body was found at home in Woking, Surrey, on August 10, 2023 after her dad called police before fleeing to Pakistan with Batool and his brother Faisal Malik.
Malik, 29, was found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child. Letby, from Hereford, is serving 15 whole-life terms after being convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill seven more at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016.
The Ministry of Justice and private firm Sodexo, which runs Bronzefield jail, declined to comment.
