Baby death in Carmarthenshire prompts police investigation into tragedy

Police responded to the tragedy at an address in Carmarthenshire, Wales at around 1.45pm yesteday

A police investigation has been launched after a baby died in Carmarthenshire.

The alarm was raised at around 1.45pm yesterday with officers rushing to an address in Carmarthenshire. They were contacted by the Wales Ambulance Service Trust, with paramedics explaining their concerns over the welfare of an infant. An Air Ambulance also flew to the scene.

A statement from Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Sadly, the infant died at the scene. Our thoughts are with the family."

The force has confirmed that they are treating the young child's death as "unexplained".
