Man charged with attempted murder after horror mum and kids stabbing with 'blood everywhere'

A knifeman has been charged with attempted murder after he launched a frenzied attack on a family in east London.

Kulvinder Ram, 48, stabbed a woman and her two young children in First Avenue, Dagenham at around 5.30pm on Friday. The youngest victim was aged a mere two years old, whilst his sister, who was also attacked, is eight.

Their brave neighbour, named Davey Holland, 40, forced entry into the property after the boy's mother banged on his door to plead for help. He said: "The mum knocked at my door. It was horrible. She was saying there’s a baby in the house, please help him."

He said told The Sun he smashed a window, passing by the suspect who was being treated by an off-duty police officer, to get to the toddler. Emergency services rushed to the scene and took the victims to hospital. Luckily, their conditions are non-life-threatening. Officers arrested the knifeman at the scene and took him to hospital after he fell ill. He was later discharged and taken into police custody.

A statement issued by Met Police said: "Kulvinder Ram, 48, of First Avenue, Dagenham will appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on Monday, 28 October charged with three counts of attempted murder.

"Ram was arrested following a stabbing in First Avenue, Dagenham on Friday, 25 October. Three people – a woman aged in her 30s, an eight-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy – were all found suffering stab injuries. All three were taken to hospital for treatment – none of their conditions are life threatening."

Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford commented on the horrifying attack and said: "This is a truly shocking attack and I want to thank local residents for their assistance and patience while we deal with this incident. At this early stage, we believe those involved were known to each other and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident. "

He added: "A crime scene will remain in place for some time while our officers carry out vital work and you will see an increased policing presence in the area over the coming days.
