This taxing brainteaser leaves a hug number of people confused and still trying to work out th4e finals answer even when it is finally revealed
by Graeme Murray · The MirrorA riddle asking which hat a cat is in can only be solved by one third of puzzlers.
Many brainteasers offer easy ways to crack a problem or solve puzzle. But others are more in depth and mistifying needing more deduction or thought. For this puzzle, only 36% of people are able to deduce the answer and solve the "problem" It is called 'The Cat in the Hat' and first appeared on the Youtube channel "Mend Your Decisions", A rule states: There's only one cat in a hat. And only one statement under these hats is true.
The cats and the hats are illustrated in an image which asks puzzlers: In which hat is the cat? It may take some questioning to come up with the answer to the tough and puzzling teaser. But if you managed to the answer and come up with the solution which is posted on YouTube. The post explains the answer and the logic behind it.
Hat 1: The cat is in this hat.
Hat 2: The cat is not in this hat.
Hat 3: The cat is not in hat 1.
The person doing the test must first think the cat is in all hats. After that they must decide which of statements given earlier is correct and which are the other two answers which are wrong. By elimination of each hat you decide which cat is in hat 1. This means first two statements are true and the third is not.
In hat 3, if there is a cat, the 2nd and 3rd statements are true. This leaves the first one which it is not, If the animal is in hat 2, the first two statements are not true, but the third is by process of elimination. It means only one statement is true: the cat is in hat 2, but the solution is that the cat is there.
The Mirror previously told of a seasonal brainteaser which emerged to tax our grey matter ahead of bonfire night. It asks people taking part to find the tools which have been hihidden in a garden shed as the nights get darker and fireworks zoomed through the sky. In the latest tricky difficult Guy Fawkes brainteaser, created by Selco Builders Warehouse, it required you to give your brain a tough workout by finding the collection of tools which are hidden in the shed.
The brainteaser is sure to be of interest to those who enjoy this autumnal time of year when the leaves are falling from the trees and the nights are getting darker. Even in the shadow of the moonlight, the tools were not easy to see. For those desperate to find the answer, the solution to the autumn teaser can be found here.
