Man in critical condition after being found in Mullingar

A man in his 30s remains in a critical condition in hospital after he was found with serious injuries in Mullingar in the early hours of yesterday morning.

It is understood the man was the victim of an assault in the town at around 1am yesterday morning.

Gardaí say they discovered the man with serious injuries on Grove Street in the town at 1.10am.

It is believed the man had been out on a staff Christmas party and was making his way home when the incident occurred.

Gardaí sealed off the scene and a technical examination was carried out.

They are appealing for witnesses and are asking anyone with camera footage from the areas around Grove Street and the areas around it between 12.30am and 1.30am to make it available to gardaí.
