Two due in court after Welshpool crash that left one dead and a child seriously injured
by Cathy Owen · Wales OnlineTwo men are due to appear in court after a driver died and a child passenger was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. The two have both been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and are due to appear at Welshpool Magistrates' Court on Monday.
It comes after a three-vehicle crash near near Welshpool on Saturday, November) 16. It happened on the A483 at Belan near Welshpool at around 6.15pm on Saturday evening and involved a red BMW X3, a blue Audi S4, and a white Toyota Yaris.
The BMW and the Audi were travelling northbound while the Toyota was travelling in the opposite direction. Police say the driver of the Toyota Yaris died at the scene and a child passenger of the same car was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
On Monday, Dyfed Powys Police said that Abubakr Ben Yusaf, 29, has been charged with drug driving, causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing death whilst uninsured, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, and failing to stop after a road traffic collision.
They added that Umar Ben Yusaf, 33, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing death whilst uninsured, and failing to stop after a road traffic collision.
Officers are continuing to appeal to anyone with information that could help with the investigation, including anyone who was travelling along the road at the relevant time with dashcam footage, is asked to report it to them.
