by · Wales Online

A busker threatened to set a woman ablaze and burn down a petrol station when he was asked to leave a forecourt. Steven Johnson, 52 was busking on the forecourt of a petrol station in Pentraeth, Anglesey, on August 8 when he was asked to move. He then started shouting at the manager that he would "set this place on fire", as he held a lighter in his hand.

Johnson, who is of no fixed address but hails from Caernarfon, appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court on Friday, October 25, after admitting to threats to damage property.

The court heard how he picked up the nozzle of a petrol pump and shouted: "I'm going to set you on fire and myself". The manager and her colleagues removed Johnson from the location, but he said he would come back and break the windows.

Sergeant Beth Lloyd commended the actions of the forecourt staff and said: "I commend the actions of the staff at the forecourt who acted quickly to stop Johnson from causing significant damage and injury despite being in fear of real danger. There could have been much more serious consequences and I hope that Johnson takes time to reflect on his behaviour."
