Announcing the passing of a loved one in the local press is a long-standing tradition and we are proud of the trust placed in us to make these important announcements. Every day the ECHO print edition carries tributes and funeral notices for those who have lost a loved one recently and our condolences go out to all.

It gives people a chance to celebrate the lives of loved ones and pay respects to the health and care teams who looked after them. The announcements also often share information regarding funerals, fundraising and flowers.

  2. Maurice Prendergast

    3rd June 1939 - 9th September 2024 Maurice passed away peacefully at home on 9th September 2024, aged 85 years. Maurice came to Liverpool to work at John Moores University and was a gifted teacher. As a young man he spent nearly twenty years living in Zambia, South Africa and Botswana and was a great traveller, visiting Machu Picchu, Singapore and the Himalayas and driving overland to and around Iceland. He settled in Old Swan with his much loved wife, Annie, and became a well-known local character who will be sadly missed by his family and friends and everyone whose life touched his.
