A woman received 35 or 36 phone calls from her ex-partner in the space of  “a couple of hours”, Naas District Court heard.

Her partner appeared in court having been arrested following an alleged breach of a protection granted at a prior family law hearing.

The court heard that the defendant was detained by a garda.

The court was also told that she answered two calls and he asked her who owned a car which was parked outside her residence.

It was claimed that this led her to believe that he was watching the property.

Judge Zaidan said this amounted to a reasonable inference on the woman’s part that he was watching the property.

He added that if the man keeps allegedly breaking the order he could wind up in jail.

He told the man to get some help if he is finding the break-up difficult.

The court was also told that the man has personal belongings at the property.

The judge asked the gardaí to collect these items for him in a discreet manner.

There was no objection to bail and the case was adjourned to October 24.
